As always, we will also give you as much information as we can about everything you need to know before hiking Pen Y Fan – because well, it wouldn’t be a full guide if we didn’t! HIKING PEN Y FAN: WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO HOW TO GET TO PEN Y FAN After visiting the Brecon Beacons in south Wales for a week, Tom and I managed to squeeze in a few different hikes that led to Pen Y Fan – so, in this guide, we will cover off our most recommended route in-depth, and then talk briefly about some alternative routes that you may also want to explore. Fan Y Big, Cribyn, and Corn Du all sit beside Pen Y Fan in a uniform line, so you’ll quickly discover many of the Pen Y Fan walks combine multiple, if not all, four peaks in the Brecon Beacons. Understandably, a Pen Y Fan walk is popular among keen hikers like us – and we would hazard a guess that you’re probably going to like this one too. It stands at 886 meters tall, making it the highest peak in the area. Pen Y Fan (pronounced Pen-er-Van) is located in the Brecon Beacons in south Wales.
